Flood Kills 1, Sweeps Away Mother, Baby In Zaria

One person was killed while a mother and her baby are missing in a heavy downpour in Zaria, Kaduna State.

An eyewitness, Mustapha Badamasi, Dan Bakano of Tudun Jukun, said a corpse was recovered from the flood, while at least two are missing.

The corpse was identified as that of Yusuf Surajo, known as Abba, while Fatima Sani Danmarke and her 3-year-old baby, as well as that of a motorcyclist, are yet to be recovered.

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has said the agency was waiting for the full details following the flood in Zaria, which reportedly killed one, swept away a mother and baby.
Speaking with our correspondent in Kaduna, KADSEMA Acting Public Relations Officer Dominic Philip said, “We have deployed our men in the Zaria office to the scene and are waiting for the full details. For now, we don’t have full details, including casualties.”
