Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has stated that mobilising Fulanis to embrace cattle ranching for improved livestock was a panacea to check insecurity and end farmer-herder clashes.

Governor Bago stated this when he received representatives from different Fulani groups under the auspices of the Madako Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Empowerment who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Minna.

Bago described ranching as the best and most improved platform for livestock, hence, the need for Fulanis to embrace it, assuring it will equally generate more income for them through value chain production.

He described Fulanis as hardworking people and acknowledged the efforts of the State Government in identifying the bad ones that engage in nefarious activities, even as he warned those invading people’s farms against such practice.

Governor Bago, who encouraged Fulanis to ensure the enrolment of their children into schools applauded the efforts of the CEO of Madako Foundation for her initiative of creating avenues for Fulani children to go back to school while inviting learned ones into the Niger State to improve nomadic schools.

Representative of Lamido of Adama, Dr. Abubakar Umar Girei commended the Governor for his unending love and support to the Fulanis, noting that, Bago has vindicated and carried them along in the scheme of things.

He further appreciated the governor for his support to the Madako Foundation in helping to improve the lives of Fulanis in the State.
