The Kano State Government has declared Friday, September 12, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The State’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, in a statement urged civil servants, members of the private sector, and the general public, to observe the holiday peacefully and in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He encouraged citizens to use the occasion to reflect on the values of unity, tolerance, and obedience to lawful authority.

“In addition, the State Government urges residents to take advantage of this blessed occasion to offer special prayers for peace, prosperity, and the overall progress of Kano State and Nigeria at large.

“The Government extends its warm felicitations to the good people of Kano State and wishes them a peaceful and memorable Maulud celebration,” the statement noted.
