The newly decorated assistant commandants-general (ACGs) and commandants of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been cautioned against seeing their new ranks as meal tickets, but as a clarion call to tackle threats arising from insecurity perpetrated by the nation’s enemies.

The commandant-general of the Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, who tasked the newly decorated 62 senior officers to serve as mentors to their subordinates to foster professionalism, however, expressed confidence in their ability to utilise the skills they acquired from local and international trainings and exposure over the years, which, pits them in good stead to solve the myriads of security challenges in the country.

Audi gave the charge during the official decoration of the promoted 5 deputy commandants generals (DCGs) 22 ACGs, and 35 commandants with their new ranks, yesterday in Abuja.

He advised them to provide quality leadership in their various services by leveraging on their wealth of experience to play extra-ordinary roles in their agencies, noting that their acceleration has come at the most challenging time in Nigeria’s history.

The NSCDC boss, who further explained that the elevation of the 62 officers was based on merit and federal character, warned its personnel who are of the habit of lobbying for promotion to desist from such act.

While charging the 62 promoted senior officers on loyalty, diligent, hard work and effective service delivery, the CG added that the Corps , under his saddle was ready to put an end to all criminals playing with the intelligence of the Nigerian state.

Audi said, ‘With this elevation, you have no excuse whatsoever not to perform going by the corps investment on you. I charge you to launch your arsenals against the perpetrators of criminalities in our dear country. It is time we begin to play a direct role and not a complementary role but with due synergy with other security agencies to fish out saboteurs and bring them to justice’.
