Police said the arrest followed successful implementation of intelligence-driven ‘stop and search’ operations in highways, primary roads, and essential intersections within the state.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Adewale Osifeso, said on Friday that these efforts have yielded significant results and greatly increasing community safety and security.

According to Osifeso, a team from the Federal Highway Patrol conducted a ‘stop and search’ at the Toll Gate on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ibadan on Thursday, at approximately 9:11 pm.

He said during this operation, a Toyota bus with registration number AFZ 933 XA was stopped, and upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered several illegal items, including two (2) locally-made single barrel firearms, 2 brand new short stainless steel machetes, and 20 live cartridges.

Osifeso added that the driver was unable to provide a valid driver’s license or necessary vehicle documentation at the time of the arrest and has been taken into custody along with the vehicle.

“In addition, just one day prior, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, other successful operations led to the recovery of a white Toyota Camry (registration number LSD 957 JX) along the Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road, as well as a disturbing quantity of human flesh found in a suspect’s hand luggage inside a white commercial bus (registration number XA 551 IRG),” the Oyo Police spokesman disclosed.

He noted that these incidents illustrate the effectiveness of police targeted strategies against vehicle theft and various illicit activities.

The PPRO stressed that the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna has reiterated the dedication of the Police to ongoing intelligence-led operations and encouraged residents to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious behavior to the authorities promptly.

“If you notice anything unusual, please inform the police right away, and they will respond accordingly. Together, we can contribute to making Oyo State a safer place for everyone,” the police said.
