Men of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested a driver in connection with illegal firearms found in his vehicle during a ‘stop and search’ operation at the Toll Gate along the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, the state capital.

The Police said the arrest, which was made on Thursday night, followed the successful implementation of intelligence-driven stop and search operations throughout highways, primary roads and essential intersections within the state.

The command’s police public Relations officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, said the efforts have yielded significant results, greatly increasing community safety and security.

He said during the operation, a Toyota bus with registration number AFZ 933 XA was stopped, and upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered several illegal items, including two locally-made single-barrelled firearms, two brand new short stainless steel machetes, and 20 live cartridges.

He added that the driver could not provide a valid driver’s license or the necessary vehicle documentation at the time of the arrest and has been taken into custody along with the bus.

“In addition, just one day prior, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, other successful operations led to the recovery of a white Toyota Camry (registration number LSD 957 JX) along the Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road, as well as a disturbing quantity of human flesh found in a suspect’s hand luggage inside a white commercial bus (registration number XA 551 IRG).

“These incidents illustrate the effectiveness of our targeted strategies against vehicle theft and various illicit activities.
