The 2025 edition of the Zenith Bank Delta Principal Cup kicked off in Asaba with a thrilling match between Omu Boys Secondary School, Ibusa, and Zappa Basic Secondary School, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Omu Boys took the lead in the 11th minute of the first half but were unable to maintain their advantage despite several scoring opportunities. Zappa Basic Secondary managed to level the game towards the end of the first half and then took a 2-1 lead. However, Omu Boys fought back in the second half, equalising to make it two goals apiece.

Eze Ifechukwudi of Zappa Basic Secondary School added, “We expected a straight win, but the match ended in a draw. Nevertheless, we hope to bring the Principal Cup home.”

Represented by Dr Kingsley Emu, Secretary to the State Government, he stated, “Without a doubt, football is the biggest sport in Nigeria. I am pleased that Zenith Bank, in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has consistently organised this tournament, which serves as a breeding ground for future stars.”
