Engineer Musa Nimrod has been re-elected as the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) for a third consecutive term.

The Adamawa-born sports administrator was returned unopposed for another four years during a calm yet intense election held at the Indoor Sports Hall in Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja yesteday.

Nimrod, who first assumed the presidency of the NVBF in 2017 and secured re-election for a second term in 2021, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, having swept all 16 votes cast during the elective congress. This re-election is seen as a mandate to further advance the development and transformation of Nigeria’s volleyball sector.

For the position of First Vice President, delegates voted Prince Babatunde Omisore, while Architect Adamu Tenimu was elected as the Second Vice President. Engineer Musa Nimrod was also re-elected unopposed as the North West zonal representative on the NVBF board. Other zonal representatives include DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd) for the North East, Bolcit Amakiri for the North Central, Prince Babatunde Omisore for the South West, Kingsley Nwosu for the South East, Famous Daunemigha for the South South, Dauda Saje as Players’ Representative, Samuel Timothy as Technical Representative, and Comptroller Frank Onyeka as Sponsor Representative.

Following his re-election, Nimrod announced that the new administration would introduce fresh initiatives designed to enhance the profile of volleyball in Nigeria. “We are not resting on our past achievements but instead looking forward to what lies ahead. Over the next four years, our focus will be on grassroots development,” he stated.

Nimrod outlined the successful implementation of structured pathways for players across various categories, from U-15 to senior levels.

He emphasised that major volleyball tours will be strengthened with support from experienced staff and mentors, while additional sponsors are expected to back the federation’s initiatives.

Nigerian athletes will also be competing at the World Schools Games in China.
