Ukakwu-Agwu spoke on the development while inspecting one of the newly renovated hostels, describing the projects as interventions that will have positive impacts on the students’ academic performance.

“I think this is just the beginning. The students should keep faith with the governor, Alex Otti, support the government, read their books, and be peaceful.

“To the managers of the hostel, I am confident they will do their utmost best to ensure that in the next 20 years, it will remain in good condition,” the chairman charged.

The onetime Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who lauded the governor for the projects, urged the management and the students to ensure their protection from misuse.

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Ndukwe Okeudo, noted that the governor had given the hostels the finest touch, and extended “our profound appreciation to him for the projects.”

“We, the management, sincerely thank him and pray that God blesses him with more resources to complete the other ongoing projects,” added Okeudo.

In a comment on behalf of the students, Onyinyechi Nwaokorie described the previous conditions of the hostels as horrifying and lauded the governor for the new narrative.

She said: “With these new hostels, we now have constant light, water, reading tables, and chairs. We no longer need to worry about going outside for night classes or fetching water.”

Adding his voice, the contractor handling the projects, Victor Ochie, said the difference between the previous state of the hostels and the present is like comparing day and night.

His words: “The renovated hostels now reflect the true essence of a university environment, with facilities that will shape students’ experiences both academically and socially.”
