Bauchi State Project Management Unit of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has donated various species of tree seedlings for the establishment of an orchard at the Special Operations Command of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Bauchi.
The move is part of ACReSAL’s broader initiative to promote large-scale tree planting across the state in collaboration with government institutions, associations, and communities and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the presentation of the seedlings yesterday, the state project coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, reaffirmed the commitment of ACReSAL to supporting afforestation and environmental sustainability efforts.
Represented by the project’s forestry officer, Nasiru Abdu Umar emphasised that the project is determined to work closely with communities and organisations to combat environmental challenges through tree planting and landscape restoration.
It will be recalled that Bauchi ACReSAL had earlier launched a massive tree planting exercise at the command under its ‘One Person, One Tree’ campaign, during which thousands of ornamental and fruit-bearing trees were planted at both the command headquarters and officers’ quarters to enhance the Air Force’s afforestation drive.
