Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has raised concerns regarding the recent suspension of Warri Wolves’ head coach, Aluma Napoleon, citing the club’s non-compliance with proper procedures for coach contracts.

In an official communication titled “Notarization and Registration of Contracts,” which was sent to the club and signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league has demanded that Warri Wolves submit the contracts for all technical and management staff.

The NPFL’s letter indicated, “Information reaching us from the media suggests that the Delta State Sports Commission has suspended your head coach, Mr. Aluma Napoleon, with immediate effect.”

Highlighting specific regulations, the NPFL referred to its Frameworks and Rules for the 2025/26 season, particularly Section B, Articles 6 and 11, which outline the requirements for hiring and registering contracts for all club officials. The league body noted that Warri Wolves is in violation of these rules due to the failure to submit the contracts of their officials for review.

The NPFL has given the club 24 hours to comply with the directive, stating, “You are hereby requested to submit all relevant contracts of your technical team, including that of the presumed suspended head coach, Mr. Aluma Napoleon, to the NPFL Secretariat.”

Should the club fail to comply, the NPFL warned that Warri Wolves might have to compete without a technical bench in upcoming matches. “Failure to comply with this instruction will result in your technical team being restricted from accessing the technical area in future NPFL matches,” the letter cautioned.

In a related statement to NPFL Media, Owumi emphasised that this issue is not unique to Warri Wolves, as it affects all clubs that have yet to register their contracts with the league. He also advised coaches to ensure they possess copies of their contracts and to report any violations of their terms to the NPFL.

“I must admonish all coaches to safeguard their contracts and lodge a report with the NPFL when there is a violation of the terms. It is the responsibility of the aggrieved to petition the league at all times,” he reiterated to the coaching community.
