The Ansar- ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has expressed concern over the prevailing security challenges in the country.

It, therefore, appealed to Nigerian leaders and other stakeholders to redouble their efforts in securing the citizens.

In a message to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th independence, the Islamic group noted the sanctity of life in Islam and urged the leaders to uphold that divine principle.

The message was signed by the association’s president, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem (SAN).

It added: ” As a faith-based organisation, the Ansar-ud-Deen Society remains committed to promoting the divine values of peace, unity and moral uprightness.

“We are, however, deeply concerned about the current state of insecurity. The sanctity of life is paramount in Islam, as the Qur’an declares, ‘…whoever kills a soul… it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely” (Qur’an 5:32).

“While we commend the achievements of the present federal government, we fervently call on the government and all stakeholders to redouble efforts in safeguarding this divine trust—the life and property of the citizens. Security is the very foundation for sustainable development. We equally urge every citizen to cooperate with security agencies, uphold lawful conduct and promote the peaceful coexistence commanded by Allah: ‘And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided’(Qur’an 3:103).”
