Former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has been laid to rest as friends, family, colleagues, and well-wishers converged in Benin City to pay their final respects to the former police chief.

He was interred following a funeral Mass held at St. Paul Catholic Church, during a private ceremony attended by family members and close associates.

In his homily, Reverend Father Andrew Obiyan urged the congregation to live righteous lives with the goal of making heaven after death.

Obiyan lamented that while people are eager to travel around the world, they often neglect the House of God.

He also expressed disappointment at people’s reluctance to contribute to the work of God.

“Our true life is in heaven. We must never be distracted. We see old age creeping into our lives every day—it comes to remind us of our mortality. We study hard to acquire many titles, but at death, those titles mean nothing to God. The only title that matters is the grace of battle,” he said.
