The wife of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and chairperson of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated the organisation’s dedication to uplifting women and families through impactful programmes and projects aimed at fostering unity, empowerment and community development.
The governor’s wife stated this while leading members of COWLSO on an awareness walk in Ikorodu, Lagos, as part of activities to sensitise residents ahead of the forthcoming National Women Conference.
During the symbolic walk, the Lagos State first lady emphasised the importance of the annual conference, describing it as a platform to amplify the voices of women and promote purposeful living across communities.
“This walk is to draw attention to the upcoming National Women Conference and what it stands for: unity, empowerment, and support for women and families. We remain committed to initiatives that truly touch lives and foster positive social impact,” she said.
Dr Sanwo-Olu also commended the warm reception by local authorities, particularly acknowledging the support of the six council chairmen in the Ikorodu division.
In his welcome address, the chairman of Ikorodu West local council development area (LCDA), Kareem Sulaimon, expressed appreciation to the COWLSO leadership for selecting Ikorodu for the awareness campaign.
He assured that his administration would continue to prioritize women empowerment and inclusive governance.
The 2025 edition of the National Women Conference is scheduled for October 28-30. The three-day event will feature plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and exhibitions, all tailored to equip women with the knowledge and tools to thrive in an ever-evolving society.
