Girl Child Day: Foundation Educates Girls On Menstrual Hygiene

Founder of Women Aid Empowerment Network Initiative, Nwaru Caroline Oluchi, has launched the pioneer menstrual hygiene education and empowerment for young girls.

She emphasised the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and using sanitary pads safely and effectively.

She stated this yesterday at the event to mark the 2025 International Girl Child Day on the theme “The Girl I am, the Change I lead” in Abuja.

The girls were tasked to embrace digital technology to drive artificial intelligence through modern knowledge.

Nwaru highlighted the adverse effects that improper menstrual practices can have on the health and well-being of young girls, which can extend into womanhood.

She discouraged the use of inappropriate materials such as fabric, paper, and tissues during menstrual flow, stressing that these could lead to infections and other health complications.

Nwaru provided detailed instructions on the correct use of sanitary pads, stressing the importance of timely disposal for both health and environmental benefits.

She explained that using sanitary pads correctly can prevent infections, promote comfort, and ensure that girls do not miss school during their menstrual periods.

The Women Aid Empowerment Network Initiative highlighted the critical role of menstrual hygiene management in public health and gender equality.

Nwaru’s advocacy strives to improve the immediate well-being of young girls and aims to empower them to grow into healthy and confident women.
