Police Launch Probe As Lifeless Body Of Woman Found Near Varsity In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command said it has launched an investigation following the discovery of a lifeless body of a 45-year-old woman found near Federal University Gashua (FUG) in Bade local government area of Yobe State.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said that the deceased person identified as one Falmata Abubakar, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua, was found dressed in a black hijab.

According to the statement, the Command said it received a report from one Yusuf Sarkin Baka, a resident of Sabon Daula Ward, Bade local government area, concerning a lifeless body of woman discovered near the fence of the Federal University in Gashua.

Upon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives from Gashua Division swiftly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.

The Police spokesman said that the body was immediately evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Gashua, where it was examined and confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

He said preliminary investigation was initiated and the corpse was later released to the deceased’s family after autopsy for proper burial according to Islamic rites.

However, further investigation revealed that the deceased’a body was transported in a vehicle and dumped at the location where it was found, approximately two kilometres away from her residence.

The statement added that, “this new finding has intensified efforts by detectives to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind the act.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has assured the public of a thorough and professional investigation aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing those responsible to justice.

Meanwhile, the Command called for calm and cooperation from members of the public, urging anyone with useful information related to the case to report to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contacts.

The Command reiterated its commitment to public safety, protection of lives and property, and maintaining peace and order across the state.
