The national zonal vice chairman (North East) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Babachir Lawal, has said the party won’t tolerate acts of indiscipline.

He said this while inaugurating an interim executive committee to oversee the administrative activities of the party in Adamawa State before a substantive committee is elected.

In a related development, the ADC in Kebbi State has suspended one of its chieftains, Sule-Iko Sadeeq Sami, for allegedly parading himself as the state chairman of the party.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state publicity secretary, Abubakar Atiku Musa.
However, Lawal, a former secretary to the federal government, said despite the little skirmishes in the party, critical stakeholders have agreed to form this interim leadership with a view to hitting the ground running as the 2027 elections are fast approaching.

He stressed that the newly inaugurated leadership was legitimate because it was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC).

He said that the NWC of the ADC had approved the new structure, warning that the party would not tolerate acts of indiscipline or defiance.

“The new leadership is the substantive one because due diligence has been followed in line with the constitution of the party.

“The national chairman of the party, Sen. David Mark, has assured all and sundry that ADC will be governed strictly according to constitutional provisions, noting that anyone who disagrees with that has no place in this party.”

Babachir charged the party faithful to uphold peace and unity within the ADC, adding that, “every politician is entitled to be insulted, it is our right, but it should not affect the way we behave.”
In his acceptance speech, the interim chairman of the party, Barrister Sadiq Dasin, expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for finding him and his team worthy to take the party to a greater height in the political equation of the state and nation as well.

Dasin, who was a former federal lawmaker and former Speaker of the Adamawa State Assembly, pledged to use his experiences and exposure in fostering unity and inclusivity within the party, promising to ensure youths and women are given special attention in the party.

Dasin, who described his emergence as “a child of necessity,” urged the aggrieved party members to join hands with his leadership in changing the fortune of the party in the state.

Meanwhile, in Kebbi, the ADC publicity secretary, Abubakar Atiku Musa said the suspension of Sule-Iko Sadeeq Sami, was in line with a resolution by the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) directing that all state chairmen should retain their positions until the completion of their tenure, which ends in May 2026.

“He is hereby warned not to participate in any party activities, as Sufiyanu Bala remains the constitutional and duly recognized Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kebbi State Chapter,” the statement read.

The party further called on security agencies to take appropriate action to ensure that Sule-Iko does not engage in any further activities under the guise of party leadership.

“We urge all party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard any unauthorized information or claims made by Dr. Sule-Iko that are not in line with the official position of the party,” the statement added.
