Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, on Monday, led a high powered delegation of the Gombe State Government on a condolence visit to the Waja Chiefdom and the family residence of his late Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), in Talasse, Balanga local government.

At the palace of the Bala Waja, Governor Inuwa Yahaya conveyed the condolences of the government and people of Gombe State to the Waja Chiefdom, where he described the death of the late Commissioner as a monumental loss not only to his immediate family but to Gombe State and the nation at large.
He noted that the late Commissioner had served Nigeria and Gombe state diligently both as a military officer and a commissioner who played a significant role in strengthening the state’s internal security architecture and ensuring peace across communities.
“We have lost one of our finest and most committed team members. Col. Abdullahi Bello made a lot of sacrifices in his lifetime. He sacrificed his life for the nation during his military career. And even after his retirement, he returned to Gombe state to offer his experience in the service of our dear state as a Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. He worked tirelessly to ensure that our dear state remains peaceful and secure. Even when this tragedy occurred, he was on his way returning from a security meeting in Maiduguri”, the Governor stated.

On the directive of the Governor, the Chief Imam of Balanga, Sheik Ahmed Usman, presided over a special prayer session for the deceased where forgiveness, mercy and Jannatul-Firdaus were sought for the late Commissioner.

In his response, the Bala Waje, Alh. (Dr.) Muhammad Danjuma Muhammad, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the visit and for the moral and institutional support extended since the tragic incident.

“Your Excellency, we are grateful for the love you have shown to us during this difficult period. We were aware that you were in Abuja when this incident happened. But you suspended all your engagements and returned to honour the deceased. You joined us at the funeral prayer, and accompanied the remains of the late Commissioner to the cemetery for burial. He was buried in your presence. In fact, we met there and you personally condoled with me. But you felt that wasn’t enough. Here you are today in this palace to condole with us again. We shall remain eternally grateful”, Bala Waja said.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya later led the delegation to the family residence of the late Commissioner also in Talasse where he condoled with the deceased’s mother, his wife, children, siblings and other family members.
