In a major push to strengthen healthcare delivery across Bauchi State, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has announced the recruitment of 3,000 health workers to boost the manpower base of the sector.
The governor made this known while flagging off the renovation of the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital, a massive project estimated to cost over N19 billion.
He revealed that 30 percent of the contract sum has already been released to the contractor to ensure smooth commencement of work.
Governor Bala described the initiative as part of his administration’s broader agenda to reposition the health sector for quality and accessible medical services to the people of the state.
“The recruitment of additional health workers and the renovation of this specialist hospital underscore our commitment to providing functional health facilities and improving healthcare outcomes in Bauchi,” the governor said.
Speaking at the event, the project contractor, Mr Ruben Okoya, lauded the state government for prioritising healthcare infrastructure.
He said the upgraded facility will feature modern laboratories, a pediatric clinic, dental and eye units, an oxygen plant, an antenatal care unit, as well as reliable water and power supply systems.
Our correspondent reports that the renovation of the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital is expected to transform the facility into a modern medical hub capable of meeting the growing healthcare demands of the state’s population.
