Bauchi State Police Command has rescued two kidnap victims and arrested two suspects believed to be behind the abduction.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, made available to reporters in Bauchi yesterday, a 32-year-old resident of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, Mr Stanley Abuchi, had on the 25th October 2025, reported to the B’ Division Police Headquarters that five armed men had stormed his residence in an attempt to kidnap him.

“When they failed to find him, the suspects abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley (23), and his friend, Adam Bala (24),” he said.

He said the DPO B Division along with his men, launched an immediate pursuit and intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz along Gidan Mai Jos Road in Bauchi.

He added that during the operation, the police arrested Abubakar Musa (32), a resident of Jos, and rescued the victims unharmed.

Wakil said preliminary investigation revealed that the kidnappers had demanded a N400,000 ransom from their intended victim. They also stole items worth N60,000 from the victims before the police intervention.

“Further intelligence-led investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Dahiru Umar (31) of Yandoya, Jos, Plateau State, on October 27, 2025. Police operatives also recovered a handcuff believed to have been used by the gang during the attempted abduction,” he said.

Wakil said the command disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down three other fleeing suspects identified as Ibrahim Hassan (aka B13), Pigo, and Musa (surname unknown), who are believed to be members of the same criminal network.

Commissioner Aliyu has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe and prosecution of the suspects.

While commending the swift response of his men, the commissioner assured residents that the command remains resolute in its fight against crime and kidnapping in the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station, emphasising that community cooperation remains key to effective policing in Bauchi State.
