Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji has advocated for definite roles  for the traditional institution in the country.

He spoke as he was he was conferred with the traditional title of the Dokacin Borgu Kingdom.

At the conferment by the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro (Kitoro 1V) at New Bussa, the speaker said definite roles for traditional rulers would not only enhance their contributions to national development but would also nip in the bud,  various  security challenges.

The speaker said  as the custodians of the culture and tradition of the people, a clear and well-defined role would enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the country, especially at the grassroots.

He said traditional rulers could help greatly towards addressing the current security challenges in the country, adding that their close connection to the community gives them a potential role in local security efforts and community policing initiatives.
