Voters in the 16 local government areas and 168 wards in Taraba State yesterday went to the polls to elect chairmen and councillors.
Checks by LEADERSHIP Sunday across Jalingo metropolis showed that the election went on smoothly, with only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fielding candidates for the election.
In some polling units, voting commenced as early as 8:15am, while some others began at 9am due to the locations.
Our correspondent also observed people going about their normal businesses, with no restrictions imposed.
It was also gathered that electoral officers were on the ground early enough in most of the polling units, because the state electoral commission took delivery of sensitive and non-sensitive materials to various local governments 48 hours before the election day due to the terrain.
As at the time of this report, there were no glitches in the election process as the electoral commission provided adequate security to control any breach of law and order.
Some of those who spoke with our correspondent, including Hassan Sadiq, Maxwell Bitrus and Abubakar Gambo, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election and the timely arrival of election materials.
