The head of operations, National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) in charge of Ekiti and Ondo states, Mr Kadiri Olarewaju, stated this in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

This came as the state government promised to sustain its existing relationship with the federal government agency.

Olarewaju, who disclosed this when he led a team of NEMA officials to the office of the deputy governor of the state, Mrs Monisade Afuye, said the relief materials meant for the disaster victims had arrived in the state.

The NEMA boss who solicited for more support from the state government said the food items and household material were presented to the state government for onward distribution to the disaster.

According to him, “Out of over 3000 victims captured in Ekiti, only 1000 would get relief materials in the first phase while the remaining victims would be captured in the second phase.”

Afuye who expressed appreciation to the federal government for the relief materials and food items released for distribution to the victims also solicited more support for the victims.

She said that the state government was poised to make life meaningful to those affected by rainstorm, flood, fire and other disasters.

Afuye commended NEMA over its efforts at addressing all issues relating with natural disasters and ameliorating the conditions of victims in the state.
