Adamawa Govt Backs Peaceful Nigeria, Cameroon Border Demarcation

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has reiterated the government’s support for a peaceful resolution ahead of planned boundary demarcations between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Farauta gave the assurance in her office when the Director General of the National Boundary Commission (NBC), Surveyor Adamu Adaji, visited her office on Tuesday in Yola.

She said that locals in affected communities have already been sensitised to the need to cooperate with officials from both countries.

Earlier, the Director General of the National Boundary Commission Surv. Adamu Adaji said his delegation was in the state to provide information to the government and people of the state that the commission is done with mapping and set to commence demarcations next year

It would be recalled that the States Boundary Committees of the frontline states along the Nigeria-Cameroon international border have appointed the state Deputy Governor, as the Chairperson of the forum.

The frontline states consist of Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Benue, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
Farauta expressed the importance of the forum in fostering trans-border cooperation between Nigeria and Cameroon, adding that the cooperation would serve the collective security interests of both nations.
