Yusuf Abubakar has climbed to the top of Nigeria’s men’s doubles rankings following the latest release by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF).

The updated standings, obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live, place the Mambilla Barracks talent ahead of his regular doubles partner, Daniel Adeleye, who competed with a different teammate at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Open earlier in the year.

This marks the first time the 2025 Strength Space Tennis Championship finalist has held the No. 1 position in either singles or doubles at national level.

In the women’s doubles category, Omolayo Bamidele has surged to the top after winning both the VEMP and DavNotch championships in Abuja.

She holds a commanding lead of more than 40 points over Success Ogunjobi, who narrowly missed out on the top spot after failing to earn points at the CBN Open doubles event.

Despite slipping in the doubles rankings, Daniel Adeleye remains Nigeria’s top-ranked male singles player as the circuit heads into the Dala Hard Court Championship in Kano.

Adeleye preserved his No. 1 status despite a quarterfinal exit at the CBN Open, while Michael Emmanuel moved up to third following his impressive title-winning run at the same tournament.

On the women’s side, Khadijat Mohammed continues to dominate the singles standings. She maintains a comfortable lead at the summit despite winning just one of the last three national tournaments.
