The newly appointed Commissioner Ministry of Livestock Development in Yobe State, Hon. Yerima Mohoud Lawan, has urged the management and staff of the ministry to prioritize their statutory responsibilities and be proactive in their service delivery.
Hon Lawan disclosed this shortly after his assumption of duty. He expressed gratitude to the governor of Yobe State, Hon Mai Mala Buni for giving him another opportunity to serve as a commissioner.
He described the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development as a visionary step aimed at transforming the state’s agricultural landscape and improving the livelihoods of herders, farmers, and all stakeholders in the livestock value chain.
He called for civil servants’ commitment, diligence, and proactiveness, and disclosed that they are the engine room of the government and crucial to enhancing service delivery.
The commissioner also highlighted the governor’s unwavering support for the ministry, which is responsible for infrastructure development in the state.
According to him, the creation of the ministry demonstrates the governor’s deep commitment to diversifying the state’s economy and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Yerima Lawan, emphasized that livestock development is a vital sector that contributes significantly to employment, nutrition, and the overall economic prosperity of Yobe State.
He urged them to embrace innovation, transparency, and dedication in carrying out their duties to ensure the success of the ministry’s programmes and policies.
He further stated that, the ministry would focus on improving livestock production systems, enhancing animal health services, and facilitating market access for livestock farmers.
