Katsina State governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, maintaining the original budget size of N897.87 billion as presented to the House of Assembly.
The budget, themed “Building Your Future III,” was signed into law yesterday at the Government House, Katsina.
Governor Radda had earlier presented the proposal to lawmakers on November 4, 2025. The Assembly reviewed and approved the bill within 21 days without altering the figures.
Under the approved fiscal plan, recurrent expenditure accounts for 18 percent, while capital expenditure takes 81 percent, reflecting the administration’s priority on infrastructure and long-term investments.
Speaking shortly after assenting to the budget, Governor Radda said the final document was shaped by extensive public consultations.
According to him, over 70,000 residents participated in town hall meetings held across the 361 wards in the 34 local government areas, where citizens outlined their development needs.
These submissions, he said, were incorporated into the final budget, commending members of the Assembly for their commitment, acknowledging that they sacrificed their recess to thoroughly scrutinize the proposal.
He noted the strong synergy between the executive and the legislature, adding that several bills from the government had already been passed and more would be forwarded in the coming months.
The governor also urged lawmakers to intensify their oversight responsibilities to ensure proper execution of projects and programmes captured in the budget.
In his remarks, the speaker of the House, Hon. Nasiru Yahaya, said the legislators spent three weeks interrogating the budget to ensure it aligned with the expectations of the people.
At the end of the exercise, he said, the Assembly unanimously approved the exact amount submitted by the executive.
Yahaya prayed for a smooth and impactful implementation of the 2026 budget so that citizens can fully enjoy the dividends of democracy.
