The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested 11 suspected hoodlums in connection with a violent rampage at Mariri in Kumbotso local government area of the State.
The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., after they allegedly unleashed attacks on residents following a local traditional festival in the area.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the suspects were armed with dangerous local weapons and reportedly attacked people indiscriminately, dispossessing them of their belongings.
“Armed with dangerous local weapons, the gang was on rampage after attending a local traditional festival in the area attacking everybody on sight dispossessing them of their belongings. They had also stormed a nearby civil defence outpost in Mariri attacked and left a staff fractured in the office. The incident took place on Wednesday 26th November, 2025 by 0100hrs,” the statement partly read.
The suspects were identified as Idris Muhd (20), Abubakar Shuaibu (24), Sagiru Hassan Yusuf (25), Idris Muhammad Morata (25), Anas Rabiu (23), Yahaya Muhd Yahaya (29), Khalid Idris (28), Mohd Adamu (19), Muktar Auwal Muktar (22), Salim Muktar (18), and Saifullahi Nuhu (18).
Six cutlasses and one pair of scissors were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
The NSCDC said its Intelligence and Investigation Department has concluded preliminary investigations and arrangements were underway to charge the suspects to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Commandant of the Corps, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
