NANS Hails Court Judgment On UNICAL Dean

President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Isah, has praised a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja that convicted and sentenced the suspended dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Professor Cyril Ndifon, for sexual harassment.

Speaking to Weekend Leadership, NANS president, Atiku Isah, welcomed the verdict as a resounding judgment that would go a long way to instill discipline in higher institutions in the country. He lamented what he described as moral decadence across campuses and warned that the student movement is compiling names of lecturers involved in “sex-for-marks” and bribery to forward to the Federal Ministry of Education for disciplinary action.

“We are compiling the names of these lecturers demanding for sex from female students to pass them in the exams, likewise those demanding bribes from boys.

We will submit these names to the Ministry of Education to ensure a sanction on these people,” Isah said.

He also praised the judge for acting on the evidence before the court and expressed dismay that a dean, especially of a faculty of law, could be implicated in such misconduct.
