We’ve Released More Funds To Varsities For Infrastructure, Says Tinubu

Federal government has deployed funds to federal universities to address specific and high priority infrastructure deficits in the institutions.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the visitor to the Federal University, Wukari in Taraba State, stated this at the weekend, during the 8th and 9th combined convocation of the university.

The president, who was represented by Prof. Ibrahim Umar, the vice chancellor, Madibbo Adama University, said funds have had been deployed to address urgent academic needs across federal universities, including Federal University of Wukari, as one of the beneficiaries.

The visitor noted that one of the key mandates of his administration is education reforms that attracts development in other sectors of the economy.

He reminded the gathering that education remains the key driver of national development, saying that despite the tense global economy education remains the solid pillar upon which the structure of the nation rests on and the key towards achieving dynamic, inclusive and balanced development.

“It is in recognition of this fact that the federal government is working assidously to ensure quality education that are accessible to as many Nigerians as possible, with adequate funding and several policies,” President Tinubu explained.

He reiterated his commitment to reviving Nigeria’s education sector from the basic to higher education, which remains one of the core agenda of this administration.

“It is in pursuance of this goal that this administration has set up some measures, which are on going, which we have already achieved some commendable results.

“One of such intervention is to improve funding of the education sector, increase financial support in higher education, is merely for maintenance, it impacts on all aspects, it allows for update of curriculum of one of the 21st century industries demands, investment in robotics, digital resources to ensure teaching methodology remains globally competitive”, he said.

President Tinubu further assured that, his administration would enhance education infrastructure, promote impact research and improve staff welfare at all levels, and capacity building to improve the standard of education in the country.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, who congratulated the graduating students for their hard work, perseverance and resilience during their school days, urged them to sustain the life long friendship they have built during their studies.

Prof. Jude Rabo, the vice chancellor of the university, which raised some security concerns, appreciated the Federal and state governments for according the institution needed support.
