The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade and other dignitaries are expected at the grand finale of the 40th Akoraye Day celebration slated for 13th December, 2025, at Modakeke, Osun State.
At a press conference in Modakeke to mark the celebration, the chairman of the planning community, Aremo Tunmbi Toriola, lamented the decay in basic infrastructure in the town and pleaded with the state government for assistance.
He also appealed for calm and peaceful conduct before, during and after this year’s celebration, adding that the appeal became necessary to ensure a smooth and successful celebration of the historic 40th edition.
Prince Tortola noted that Akoraye Day has united Modakeke people for four decades and remains a platform for cultural promotion and community development.
He unveiled the official programme schedule for the eight-day celebration starting December 6 and ending December 13.
According to him, the activities include traditional rites, thanksgiving services, competitions, a shopping plaza commissioning, a fitness walk, medical outreach, an award night and a grand finale.
Prince Toriola added that the grand finale will feature the launch of a one billion naira community development fund.
