The thirty-eight (38) worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State recently rescued from their abductors have returned to their hometown of Eruku and reunited with their families.

The worshippers who are mostly women were abducted by bandits during an evening church service on November 18, 2025, but were rescued after seven days in captivity.

The Chief Press Secretary to the chairman of the local government, Dada Sunday, in a statement on Wednesday, said the rescued worshippers were handed over to the chairman, Hon. Awelewa Gabriel, in Ilorin, by Governor AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday.

“The handover ceremony was a testament to the tireless efforts of the government and security agencies involved in the rescue mission,” he said.

Hon. Awelewa thanked President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, the National Security Adviser, and all security agencies involved in the rescue effort.

“We appreciate the comprehensive medical care and provisions given to the abductees after their rescue,” Awelewa said.

He assured the residents of the local government area that his administration would continue to prioritise their safety and security.
