Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has tasked indigenes of the ancient town to renew their vow to create the Ile-Ife of their dreams for peace, prosperity and unity of the entire Oduduwa race along with him.
The monarch who spoke at the ongoing celebration of his 10th coronation anniversary in Ile-Ife thanked God, Ife Development Board (IDB), the organisers of the event, and the entire people for their support for him since he ascended the throne of his fathers.
He noted that the last 10 years have come and gone with numerous opportunities and challenges, adding that his vision for the town is great during his period as Ooni of Ife.
Residents and natives of Ile-Ife trooped out in their numbers at the event in Ile-Ife to celebrate the 10th year coronation anniversary with a series of events.
Tagged “A Day with Ojaja II”, the events packaged by the Ife Development Board (IDB) afforded natives of Ife and all descendants of Oduduwa across the world to celebrate with the Ooni on the occasion of the Arole Oduduwa’s first decade of reign.
The event witnessed a carnival procession by secondary school students, artisans, youths and elders alike who blew the popular vuvuzela during their procession around major parts of the town.
Afterwards, a royal dinner was held to entertain attendees, where cultural music was played, and a series of ancient Ife artefacts were displayed to thrill the audience in the presence of the Ooni, who sat as the grand host of the event.
It climaxed with the majestic entrance of the Ooni, who was flanked by his beautiful queens, prominent Ife sons and daughters, politicians, entrepreneurs, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
