Work On 2.6km Mararaba 2 Flyovers Commences

Work on the 2.6km Mararaba twin flyovers in Karu local government area of Nasarawa State has commenced following the groundbreaking by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Triacta Nigeria Limited is handling the project, which would cost the state government N39 billion.

Governor Sule said that his administration had released N19 billion to the contractor to facilitate the timely delivery of the project, which is expected to be completed within 18 months.

According to the contract specifications, the project consists of two flyovers, each with a roundabout underneath.

The first roundabout is expected to be located around Abacha Road, while the other would be at the Technology Village Junction.

“You are going to see here what we call a raised highway. From the beginning of entering Nasarawa State until you get close to the international market, you are going to be on a highway that nobody can cross. That is the idea of what it will be. There will be a flyover, a raised highway, and then a descent. This is the kind of design that we have,” Governor Sule explained.

He commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for initiating fiscal reforms that are enabling states like Nasarawa to undertake capital-intensive projects, such as the Mararaba twin flyovers.

“This is the 7th intervention we are having on the federal highways.  Others include the dualization inside Akwanga, the dualization on Muhammadu Buhari Way, the flyover and interchange in Lafia, the underpass in Akwanga, and the flyover in Keffi.

All of these are on federal highways,” he said.

Additionally, the Managing Director/CEO of Nasarawa Urban Development Agency (NUDA), Engineer Mohammed Yahaya Wada, stated that the project aims to address the multifaceted problems in Mararaba, which have defied previous efforts.

“His Excellency, in his usual patriotism, intelligent and professional approach, promised to put an end to this problem. As an engineer, he promised to prove the fact that engineers are trained to solve problems, irrespective of their magnitude, quantum and complexity,” he said.

He described the project as a “complex of engineering structures that provide circular interchanges, overhead bridges, and pedestrian bridges.”
