BUA Cement Gives N40m Scholarship To 200 Students

BUA Cement Plc on Tuesday, gave Scholarship of N200, 000 each to 200 benefiting students from it business host states of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.

The plant director, Engr Aminu Bashir speaking on behalf of the managing director/chief executive officer, MD/CEO, said the management have increased the scholarship from the initial N100,000 per student to N200,000 and also increased the number from 100 to 200 students

According to him, “50 beneficiaries each, were drawn from the states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and another 50 from the immediate host community, Wamakko local government area.

“The selection process was vigorous and transparently done, based on the criteria set by the management and verification process. I therefore urge the beneficiaries to ensure that you utilise the scholarship judiciously,” Binji advised.

Earlier in his welcome address, BUA’s head of Department, Health, Community, Safety and Environment, HCSE, Aliyu Gumel, said the aim of the scholarship is to provide support for students from the host states to enable them pursue their academic dreams in order for them to contribute to the development of their respective communities, state and nation at large.

In the same vein, BUA’s director, Administration and Corporate Affairs, Muhammed Sada, further emphasised that, the idea of the scholarship which started since 2019 was aimed at complimenting the efforts of the government and also create future workforce for the company.

The trio of the executive secretary, Zamfara State Scholarship Board, Prof Rashida Usman, Kebbi State director, Student Affairs, Yusuf Abubakar, and Sokoto State special adviser, Corporative and Corporate Social Responsibility Agency, Hon. Usman Arzika Fako, thanked BUA’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility as, educational empowerment remained one of the surest way to have a sustainably development society.

Bilkisu Bello Mohammed and Umar Bello Kaura, both beneficiaries from Kebbi and Zamfara states respectively, in their votes of thanks, said they will forever remain grateful to BUA as, any assistance towards education is an investment that will never go unmentioned.
