How To Apply For Constable In 2025/2026 Police Recruitment

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has officially opened applications for enlistment as Police Constables and Specialist personnel.

LEADERSHIP reports that the move followed a directive from President Bola Tinubu to recruit 50,000 new police officers across the nation.

According to the PSC, the initiative aims to strengthen internal security and expand the Force’s capacity to tackle rising crime and insecurity across the country.

The online recruitment portal will be active from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026.

Hereunder are steps that interested applicants can follow to apply for the job:

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
• Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
• Physically and mentally fit.
• Free from financial embarrassment and of good character, with no criminal record.
• Age limits: 18–25 for General Duty, up to 28 for Specialists.
• Female applicants must not be pregnant during the training period.
• Physical requirements:
o General Duty males: minimum height 1.67m, chest 86cm.
o General Duty females: minimum height 1.64m.

Step 2: Confirm Your Qualifications
• General Duty: Minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics.
• Specialists: Minimum of four credits, at least 3 years relevant trade experience, and trade test certificates.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents
Applicants must have soft copies of:
• First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
• SSCE/NECO results
• Birth certificate
• LGA/State of origin certificate
Specialists must also include:
• Trade Test Certificates
• Driver’s Licence (for driving roles)

Step 4: Apply Online
• Visit the portal: https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng
• Please make sure you have a National Identification Number (NIN), a functional email address, a phone number, and all required documents ready for upload.

Step 5: Know the Categories
• General Duty: Police Constables
• Specialist Roles:
o Medical: Medical Assistants
o Transport: Drivers, Mechanics, Auto-Electricians, Dispatch Riders
o EOD-CBRN: Forensic Assistants, General Operatives
o K9 Section: Dog Handlers
o Mounted Troop: Horse Riders
o Marine: Deckhands, Divers, Engineers, Boat Mechanics
o Artisans: Electricians, Plumbers, Welders, AC/Refrigeration Technicians
o Tailoring: Tailors
o Communication & IT: Technicians and Operators
o Band Section: Musical Equipment Specialists

Step 6: Prepare for Tests
Applicants will undergo physical and medical examinations, aptitude tests, and a background verification process.
