The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that it has far exceeded its annual health insurance enrollment target for 2025.
The permanent secretary, FCTA Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr Baba Gana Adams, gave the hint at an event organised by the secretariat to commentate the 2025 UHC Day in Abuja.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s UHC, “Unaffordable health costs? We’re tied and sick of it!” Adams said it stressed the urgent need to make healthcare affordable and accessible to all.
“Health is not a privilege. It is a right. This year’s theme speaks directly to the urgent need to make healthcare affordable and accessible for all. For us in the FCTA, it is a responsibility we take seriously,” he said.
He credited the success to a strategic collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for beneficiary revalidation and a focused community-based approach.
“As of November 2025, we have surpassed the target for the year by over 8,000 additional enrollees. This is commendable. These initiatives bring us closer to our goal of ensuring every resident has reliable access to affordable healthcare,” he said.
The permanent secretary reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, stressing that financial protection is key. “The goal is clear: to build a resilient health system that delivers quality care to everyone, everywhere, every time.”
