The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has given approval for the perimeter fencing of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Abdul Jimoh Mohammad, disclosed this on Monday while speaking at a media parley themed ‘The New Kwara in Kwarapoly’, organised by the department of Strategic Communications and Media Studies of the institution.
Mohammad said the perimeter fencing of the vast land of the institution would put paid to the encroachment of its land by land grabbers, thanking the governor for being “a calm, calculative and compassion” leader.
Delivering the lecture, the governor’s senior adviser/counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, restated the state government’s determination to continue to prioritise investments in digital, science and technical education.
He noted with delight how the government has used digital tools to improve service delivery and enhance educational development across the state.
“The establishment of the Smart Schools has made it easier for the state to meet up with the digital literacy requirements,” he said.
Salahu said the Kwara Polytechnic has been ranked number four among similar institutions in the country, describing the feat as a clear testimony of the government’s huge investment in the education sector.
He advised the students to squarely face their studies so that they could have a bright future.
The commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, represented by the director, Special Services, Mrs Rodihat Yahaya, appreciated the management of the polytechnic for strategically positioning the students for greater opportunities.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion and former non-executive director of the NNPCL, Dr. Muhammad Ghali Alaya, had commended the management of the polytechnic for guarding jealously facilities at the institution.
He urged the students to dedicate more time to their studies by avoiding distractions, advising them to complement the efforts of their parents by coming out in their examinations in flying colours.
