The Kano State Hisbah Board has intercepted a vehicle transporting alcoholic drinks from Lagos State to Kano.
The Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, confirmed the development to journalists, saying, “the operation was carried out after we received credible intelligence on the movement of the consignment.”
He explained that operatives attached to the Fagge Unit acted on the information and successfully stopped the vehicle, recovering the alcoholic drinks.
According to Dr. Mujahideen, preliminary investigations showed that the drinks were allegedly sent by a woman from Lagos to Kano. He added that about 13 packs of assorted alcoholic drinks were seized during the operation.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and is currently being questioned.
Dr. Mujahideen urged members of the public to continue supporting Hisbah’s efforts by reporting activities that contravene Islamic law in the State.
