Nigeria’s Adashi Margaret Odama has been appointed by the Global Association for Research and Innovation (GARI) as a judge for the Health and Public Service category of its International Award for Excellence.

The award recognises outstanding achievement, leadership and impact in research, innovation, and public service.

In the letter of appointment sent to her, GARI said as a judge, Ms Odama will independently review and evaluate submissions from candidates using standardised assessment criteria and professional judgement to determine qualified recipients for the coveted awards.

Odama holds a Master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated with academic distinction and was inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society of Public Health.

She brings extensive expertise in epidemiology, quantitative research and data-driven evaluation.

Her appointment reflects international recognition of her professional authority and affirms her standing as a peer-level expert qualified to evaluate the work of other researchers and public health professionals.
GARI said her selection further evidences Odama’s sustained record of achievement and recognition within the global research community.

She is also expected to assess research quality, public health relevance, methodological soundness and real-world impact.

The 2025 GARI International Award for Excellence had its nomination period from October 1 to December 1, 2025. The winners were announced on December 15, 2025, and a virtual gala was scheduled for January 2026.

Judges are selected based on demonstrated subject-matter expertise, scholarly and professional contributions, and recognised standing within their fields.
