The Ebonyi State government has denied media reports alleging that it has abandoned some projects initiated by the present administration, insisting that the projects are still ongoing and would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, the state capital, the special assistant to the governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Mr Sunday Nwambam, called on members of the public to disregard the report as it was a misrepresentation of the condition of projects on the ground, especially those visited.
“In the last 24 hours, I have been inundated with calls on the media report emanating from a one-day inspection of Ebonyi State’s good projects initiated by the Inter-Party Advisory Committee, Ebonyi State chapter.
“In the reports I have been able to go through, IPAC was quoted to have said that some government projects have been abandoned.
“I understood that the projects visited were just initiated a few months ago and still have a year or thereabout duration to be completed. So, it amounts to mischief and calculated attempts to create unfounded content for the opposition voices to report that the state government has abandoned ongoing projects in Ebonyi State,” he said.
He maintained that all the projects initiated by the state government were at various levels of completion or ongoing and are subject to verification, funding availability, mobilisation and certification.
“While I take the report to be a misrepresentation of IPAC’s expression on the projects visited, I advise that interested parties wishing to visit government projects next time should look for professional journalists and not roadside content creators who will turn their reports upside down.
“We are all here in Ebonyi and know that the state government has announced a timeline beginning from next year, within which to embark on the commissioning of projects.
“It is on record that all political parties are in support of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration as a result of his giant strides in project execution.”
