Governor of Adamawa State Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the distribution of over N1 billion flood intervention support funds to more than 5,000 households affected by the 2025 flood disaster in Yola South local government area.

Fintiri said mildly affected households will receive N135,000, moderately affected victims N280,000, while severely affected households will receive N550,000 each.

The ceremony, held at Aliyu Mustapha College, Yola, attracted top government officials, relevant stakeholders and members of the affected communities.

Governor Fintiri presided over the event.

While presenting cheques to beneficiaries, the governor explained that the victims were categorised into three groups based on the level of damage suffered.

He expressed concern over the continued construction of buildings on waterways and warned the  residents to desist from such practices or face the government action.

He also advised people living in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer locations, assuring them of the government’s sustained support.

Earlier, the commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Humanitarian Services, Barrister Bello Hamman Diram, commended Governor Fintiri for the timely intervention.
