Taraba Governor Appoints Members Of 2 New Agencies

Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of members of two newly established agencies in the state.

The agencies are the Taraba State Environmental Sanitation Agency and the Taraba State Livestock Development Commission.

The sanitation agency is primarily to keep the state clean and to address environmental challenges while the livestock agency will regulate livestock activities, boost production, create jobs and strengthen farmer-herder relations in the state.

This was contained in a press release issued to LEADERSHIP, and signed by the secretary to the government of Taraba State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, in Jalingo.

Mr Iliya Kefas, the director-general, Operation Keep Taraba Clean, was appointed as the chairman of the State Environmental Sanitation Agency while Ahmed Dansuleiman, Asendele Azyinta, Nicodemus Suleiman represent the Northern, Southern and Central senatorial zones respectively.

Others are the representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; Social Development and Human Services; Waste Management; Justice; Environment and Rural and Urban Development.

The composition of the membership also includes the representatives of the membership Traditional institution, religious bodies (CAN/Muslim Council), Taraba State Marshal and Security Guards, persons living with disability, private security companies operating in the state, traders union, Taraba State Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Association of Nigeria (TASCOMAN), secretary of the agency, Civil Society Organizations working on environment protection and sanitation, and the 16 Local Government Area Coordinators among others.

For the Taraba State Livestock Development Commission, Dr Dauda Abubakar Muhammad is appointed as the Chairman of the commission.

Other members of the Commission are Dr Tirmidhi Aliyu Baba, Bujuje Akape Danjuma, Dr Aisha Bashir Ardo and the Permanent Secretary.

Also to serve as members of the Commission are the representatives of the selected Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Unions among others who are not below the rank of a Director.

They are ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; Agriculture and Food Security; Health; Justice; Environment and Climate Change; Education; Commerce, Trade and Industry.

Others are Taraba Geographic Information System, TAGIS, Taraba State Marshal and Security Guards, Nigeria Police, Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, All Farmers Association of Nigeria and Cattle Breeders.

According to the statement 3 persons, at least one of which should be a female are to represent livestock farmers, Butchers, Farmers Association traditional rulers in the state as well as livestock and crop farmers association.

Chief Kataps, in the statement said, members of the two agencies are subject to the confirmation of the Members by the Taraba State House of Assembly.
