Relief has finally come to the Bayagan-Ile community in Ifelodun Local Government Area as their traditional ruler, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan, regained his freedom from kidnappers.
The monarch, who was abducted on November 29, 2025, while working on his farm, returned to his community late Tuesday evening.
Sources close to the palace confirmed that the traditional ruler was currently receiving intensive medical attention at an undisclosed facility and is said to be “responding to treatment” after enduring nearly a month in the forest.
While the return of the Ojibara has sparked celebrations, it has also deepened the resentment within the community toward the Kwara State Government.
For over three weeks, the Bayagan-Ile Royal Family and local leaders publicly pleaded for state intervention, accusing the government and security agencies of “total silence and abandonment.”
It was gathered that his release was secured through communal efforts.
The perceived neglect led to a mass exodus from Bayagan-Ile earlier this week, as residents fled their homes in fear, feeling vulnerable without their leader or government protection.
As of Wednesday morning, the Kwara State Police Command and the state government have yet to issue an official statement regarding the specifics of his release.
