Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen and the deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu, have congratulated Nigerians, particularly Christians, on the occasion of the Christmas celebration, urging citizens to embrace peace, love and unity.
Akpabio, in a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, stressed the importance of spreading love, kindness and generosity during the yuletide season.
He encouraged Nigerians to remember the less privileged and extend a helping hand to those in need, noting that the Christmas season is a time for compassion and selflessness.
The Senate President said the life and teachings of Jesus Christ exemplified peace, love and generosity, adding that His birth should be celebrated with joy, hope and togetherness.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate and the entire 10th National Assembly, I wish to heartily rejoice with our Christian faithful on this joyful occasion of Christmas,” Akpabio said.
Speaker Abbas, in a congratulatory message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, urged Christians to use the occasion to pray to God for a new dawn in Nigeria, as the nation is seeking divine intervention on its socio-economic, political, and security issues.
He called for a national rebirth that Christians, Muslims, and adherents of other religions would collectively achieve.
Similarly, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu felicitated Christians and all Nigerians on this year’s Christmas, calling on them to show love to the needy and emulate the life of Jesus Christ.
Kalu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, extended his festive greetings, emphasising the significance of Christmas as a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and His Love for mankind. The deputy speaker urged the people to show love to the needy and celebrate together.
