Two persons lost their lives after a motorcycle carrying two youths rammed into a Mercedes SUV along Okigwe Road on the eve of Christmas.
Eyewitness account revealed that the victims were driving on a small bike after a football training in Orji, Owerri North Local Government Area when they had a head-on collision with the jeep and died instantly.
The incident caused traffic gridlock along the busy Okigwe Road as Christmas travellers were stuck and pleaded with traffic warders for intervention.
A sympathiser who spoke to our correspondent said the two victims were from Amatta in Ikeduru LGA and were returning from a football training session in Orji.
The deceased persons, according to him, had been evacuated from the accident scene.
Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and police spokesman in the State, Henry Okoye, proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
