Two persons lost their lives after a motorcycle carrying two youths rammed into a Mercedes SUV along Okigwe Road on the eve of Christmas.

Eyewitness account revealed that the victims were driving on a small bike after a football training in Orji, Owerri North Local Government Area when they had a head-on collision with the jeep and died instantly.

The incident caused traffic gridlock along the busy Okigwe Road as Christmas travellers were stuck and pleaded with traffic warders for intervention.

A sympathiser who spoke to our correspondent said the two victims were from Amatta in Ikeduru LGA and were returning from a football training session in Orji.

The deceased persons, according to him, had been evacuated from the accident scene.
