The warring camps within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on Nigerians to embrace peace and pray for the growth, development and stability of Nigeria.
The Tanimu Turaki-led PDP and the camp loyal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, made the appeal to Nigerians in separate Christmas messages.
In his message, Turaki, who felicitated with Christian faithful and party members, said the season reminds all of the enduring values that Jesus embodied-love, sacrifice, humility, and generous provision for others.
“These are not merely seasonal virtues but timeless principles that if embraced in our national life, can transform our country and usher in economic prosperity.
“As we celebrate together, we assure you of our renewed commitment to championing these same values in our politics, believing they hold the key to attainment of the Nigeria of our collective dreams.
“In the joyful spirit of this season, we are reminded that even in challenging times, determined people have not only survived, but have emerged stronger and found beauty in ashes. May this Christmas fill your hearts with joy, your homes with peace, and your spirit with renewed optimism for the brighter days ahead,” he said.
On its part, the Wike-led National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) of PDP urged Nigerians to pray for the growth, development and stability of Nigeria.
A statement issued in Abuja by the national publicity secretary of the caretaker committee, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, urged PDP members to reflect deeply on the issues confronting the party with a view to making positive New Year Resolutions that will foster Unity, Stability, and Progress, he said.
“We wish to state unequivocally that we are party leaders who have utmost respect for constitutional provisions, subsisting court judgments, and the rule of law.
“Party members and the general public are further advised to disregard the insinuations and deliberate attempts to mislead Nigerians by suggesting that the issues currently affecting the PDP are not justiciable.
“The National Caretaker Working Committee reaffirms its unwavering commitment to Rebuilding, Stabilizing, and Repositioning the Peoples’ Democratic Party in strict adherence to Democratic Principles and the Rule of Law.
“We appreciate Our National Leader, Hon Minister of the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT) Barrister Nyesom Wike and other leaders of the party for their commitment to building a PDP that stands on the path of Constitutionality.
Once again, we wish Nigerians and PDP Members Compliments of the Season and a Peaceful and Successful New Year,” the faction said.
