A student from Igbobi College is set to receive a scholarship this Saturday as the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SACF) hosts its 11th annual event at the school.
Since its inception in 2014, the foundation has been awarding scholarships to students. Organisers of SACF prioritise providing ongoing support for educational and football development, rather than focusing solely on past beneficiary numbers.
Mr. Dotun Coker, Head of the Technical arm of the organising team, confirmed that one student from the host school would be among this year’s scholarship recipients.
“I cannot give you a precise number, but our aim is for participants to enjoy themselves. We will also mentor them in various ways to shape their perspectives on education and sport,” Coker stated.
The 2025 edition will feature six teams: two women’s teams and four men’s teams. The confirmed women’s teams are Golden Eko Ballers Women Team and Asisat Oshoala Girls Academy. Competing in the boys’ category will be Golden Eko Ballers U-14 Team, Dosu Football Academy, 36 Lions Football Academy, and Ikorodu City Football Academy.
A novelty match will also take place between the Igbobi College Old Boys Association of the 2000 set and the 2001 set.
Igbobi College will host this year’s event on Saturday, 27th December, with significant support from the ICOBA 78/80 set.
