The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the payment of the 2025 Christmas Bonus to civil servants and pensioners in the state.
The commendation followed the Monday payment of ₦100,000 Christmas bonus, approved by Governor Fubara, to civil servants, public sector workers, and pensioners in the state.
The bonus was intended to ease the financial burden of the Yuletide season and ensure that workers and senior citizens celebrate Christmas and the New Year with renewed hope and dignity.
In a letter of appreciation by its state chairman, Comrade Alex Agwanwor, the NLC also lauded the governor for his consistency and intentional approach towards improving the welfare of its members and workers.
“On behalf of the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress Rivers State Council, we extend our gratitude to Your Excellency for the kind approval and payment of the 2025 Christmas Bonus to all Civil/Public Servants, including Pensioners in the State.
“It’s worthy to note that since the inception of your administration, you have always endeared our hearts through your progressive approach to workers’ welfare and conditions of employment.
“As workers in Rivers State, this Christmas gift will leverage and increase our purchasing power for a memorable festive celebration with our loved ones.
“Your consistency and intentional approach towards improving our members and workers’ welfare in the state is the obvious reason you remain the Most Workers Friendly Governor of Rivers State,” the letter reads in part.
The Union reassured the governor of its continuous support for his administration’s programmes and policies aimed at uplifting workers’ welfare and developmental strides in the State.
“We remain grateful to God for the gift of you as our Governor, and pray for continuous wisdom, grace and divine protection as you continue to lead the State to greater heights,” the NLC said.
