The Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill, totalling N877,052,907,900, into law.
The bill was passed following the presentation of the report by the House Committee on Appropriation, chaired by Wanzam Mohammed, during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Abubakar Sulaiman, on Tuesday.
Presenting the report, Mohammed disclosed that N308.7 billion, representing 35.20 per cent, has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, while N568.3 billion is approved for capital projects.
He explained that the budget was conceived to drive infrastructure development, enhance social service delivery, and stimulate economic growth across the state.
The committee also commended the state government for establishing a Fiscal Services Commission, building capacity on the new budget framework, and introducing sanctions against extra-budgetary expenditures.
Other key recommendations highlighted in the report include the timely release of funds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the strengthening of audit and procurement frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability.
